Kavera is an assessment, treatment and documentation platform for concussion, mental health, MCI and headache care. Dr. Abrahams ran a concussion program for two and a half years on paper, homemade forms and three vendor tools. Each did one thing he liked. None did all of them. Kavera does.
What the platform does
Most post-injury patients are seen every few weeks. Symptoms, mood, sleep and cognition change daily in between. Kavera closes that gap with a program that runs between visits and reports back to you.
- Scheduling. First visit, two-week feedback visit, monthly follow-ups.
- Assessment. A 14-instrument battery: PCSS, PHQ-9, GAD-7, PCL-5, PSQI, HIT-6 and cognitive tests including Trail Making, Digit Span and SDMT. Assigned by module and recovery stage, not administered as one fixed panel.
- Weekly digital check-ins. Core concussion symptoms, sent to the patient's phone.
- Brain training. Adaptive attention and focus work. This is the CBT device behind 98978.
- Guided support. A structured tool for mild anxiety and depression. Sessions are clinician-gated: the patient can't advance until you approve the last one.
- Telehealth. Follow-ups run inside the platform and log as interactive communication.
- Clinician dashboard. Every patient's scores plotted over time, with flags for threshold crossings and meaningful change from baseline. Built for a two-minute scan before clinic, not a research tool.
- Documentation. Every completed cycle records what was administered, when, to whom, for how long, and what you reviewed.
Documentation that supports billing
The record is structured for both code families:
- Remote therapeutic monitoring: 98975, 98978, 98979, 98980 and 98981
- Neurocognitive and psychological testing: 96116/96121, 96132/96133, 96136/96137, 96138/96139, 96146
On Self-Serve, your billing staff use the record to support the codes you choose to bill. On Managed, Kavera staff prepare and submit claims under your credentials for your approval.
General education about how the platform relates to CPT and RTM codes. Not coding advice or a guarantee of reimbursement. Verify with CMS (opens in a new tab) and each payer.
